Abstract

This study involves the synthesis of ‎4-imidazolidinone ‎ derivatives by reacting Schiff base derivatives with glycine. ‎The reactions were conducted using both conventional and microwave methods and characterized using determining ‎melting points and purity, monitoring reaction progress and Rf ‎values using thin-layer chromatography (TLC), and ‎conducting infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, proton nuclear ‎magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectroscopy, and ‎quantitative elemental analysis (C.H.N.).‎ The biological activity of the synthesized compounds was evaluated by ‎examining their effects on the growth of four types of antibiotic-resistant bacterial isolates: two Gram-negative ‎strains (Escherichia, Klebsiella pneumoniae) and two Gram-positive strains (Staphylococcus aureus, ‎Staphylococcus epidermidis). The standard antibiotic Ampicillin was used as a control sample. The synthesized ‎compounds exhibited good inhibitory activity against the tested bacteria. Additionally, the laser activity of the ‎synthesized compounds was measured using a helium-neon laser (visible laser). The compounds were irradiated for ‎four different periods (15, 30, 45, and 60) seconds, and their physical properties were re-examined to observe any ‎changes resulting from the laser irradiation. A study of the effect of stereochemistry and the most stable conformation ‎was also conducted ‎using the Chem3D 19.0 program.‎
