Abstract

The study was conducted at the College of Technology – Electronics and Electrical Technology Area of Cebu Technological University, Main Campus. It scrutinizes the acceptability and functionality of the constructed instructional trainer, which is a Programmable Logic Controller Operated Alternating Current Motor Control Trainer, for the Electronics and Electrical technology students, during the calendar year 2018 as the basis for Industrial Electronics and Automation Instruction. The trainer was evaluated on the acceptability on its design, construction, installation, and functions; and the students’ performance of each functions. The output were the construction and User’s Manual, which was used upon implementation of the trainer. Descriptive method particularly survey research was employed on this study. Questionnaires were given to the 10 Faculty instructors/professors that handles a PLC subject and 40 BSIT Electronics and Electrical Technology students for evaluation. Gathered data were treated using total weighted points and weighted mean. It was found out that this instructional trainer was highly acceptable in terms of design, construction, installation, and functions; the instructional trainer was highly effective using the Programmable Logic Control System and moderately effective in Manual Operated Control System. Based on the findings of the study, the instructional trainer met the standards in its design, construction, installation and functions. It has a capacity in controlling different motor rotating directions and the speed of the motor itself using an advanced technology by using a Variable Frequency Drive.
