A Textual Discourse Analysis on the Lyrics of Song “Easy On Me” By Adele

This research aims to analyze the lyrics of the song "Easy on Me" by Adele based on textual discourse analysis, on its grammatical aspect and lexical aspects. Grammatical aspect divided into four parts namely reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunctions. And in the lexical aspect, there are some part that are commonly used in discourse analysis namely repetition, synonymy, collocation, hyponymy and antonym. To analyze the data, this study applied a descriptive qualitative approach. The data of this research were taken from the song lyrics of “Easy on Me” by Adele, which accessed by researchers via online platforms. This research follows several steps to collect the data. First, the lyrics which function as documentation are collected by the researcher from an online platform. Second, researchers read the lyrics to understand the song text. Third, the researchers marked several words included in textual analysis. Numbering is done on the song lyrics to facilitate analysis. The results of this research shows that in the grammatical aspect, there are three components are found, namely reference, ellipsis, and conjunctions. Meanwhile, in the lexical aspect, only two components were found, namely repetition and collocation. Repetition is the most commonly used in the lyrics of the song "Easy on Me"..Downloads
