Abstract

Phrasal verbs and idioms borrowed from foreign languages are one of the sources that fill the phraseology of the Russian language. In particular, a lot of phraseology has been adopted from the Latin and French languages. There are also phrases borrowed from Greek, Spanish, Italian and other languages. Most of the acquired phraseological combinations show the characteristic of bookishness. Phraseologisms are divided into five groups according to the method of acquisition.
