Neuroendocrine rearrangement in the body of women during menopause is often accompanied by the development of menopausal syndrome with concomitant mental disorders. In addition, during this period, various mental disorders, in particular depression, can manifest. The article presents the results of a survey of 150 women aged 41 to 65 years, suffering from depressive disorders in the menopausal period. Based on the results obtained, we consider depressions of various origins that occur in pre - and postmenopausal women, their relationship with menopausal symptoms, as well as social factors. The issues of differential diagnosis and basic principles of treatment of depression, including indications and contraindications to the appointment of hormone replacement therapy and psychotropic drugs, are described.
