Abstract

The human heart is located in the chest, approximately in the center with a slight shift to the left. It is a hollow muscular organ. It is surrounded from the outside by a shell – the pericardium (pericardial sac). There is a liquid between the heart and the pericardial sac that moisturizes the heart and reduces friction during its contractions.
