Significant risk factors for the development of osteoporosis in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis are age, body mass index and family history of osteoporosis, as well as parameters of the course of early rheumatoid arthritis (duration of the disease), parameters of clinical inflammatory activity (pain level according to the visual analogue scale, duration of morning stiffness), laboratory parameters of inflammation (ESR) and immunological parameters (content of antibodies to cyclic citrullinated peptide and interleukin-6).
