ON THE ISSUE OF THE ETIOLOGY OF ACUTE PROTRACTED BRONCHITIS

A clinical-virological and clinical-immunological study of patients with acute bronchitis with a protracted course confirmed the high role of active viral infection. The high percentage of associated viral infection in these subgroups of patients also confirms the similarity of these patients with regard to the protracted course of bronchial inflammation. A reliably high frequency of persistent and chronic viral infection in the subgroup of patients with acute protracted bronchitis with bronchospastic syndrome is one of the reasons for the formation of this syndrome. The undoubted pathogenic role of individual viruses, such as influenza A, RS virus, adenovirus, and their associations in the occurrence of a protracted course of bronchitis has also been confirmed. The above-mentioned features of viral infection in patients with acute bronchitis also determined the features of the immunological reactivity of these patients.
