Abstract

In this work new series of 1,2,4,5 tetrasubstituted imidazole 5a-d derivatives have been synthesized via four-component, one-pot reaction of 1,2-diketones, substituted aryl aldehydes, ammonium acetate and aromatic amine in good yields by Radiszewski Synthesis in presence of glacial acetic acid as a catalyst under reflux condition. The characterizations of all synthesized compounds were mostly carried out by thin layer chromatography (TLC), melting point and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).
