KINETIC AND THERMODYNAMIC STUDY OF ADSORPTION
Keywords:
Water pollution, AdsorptionAbstract
The algae powder was prepared and examined under a scanning transmission electron microscope. The sample showed that the prepared particles had multiple walls. The research included a spectroscopic study of the adsorption of salicylic acid on the surface of the prepared algae. The results showed that the appropriate concentration of the adsorbent was 10 parts per million, and an appropriate weight of the adsorbent was 0.0 g. 2. At an equilibrium time of 60 minutes, the percentage of adsorption efficiency increases over time. The adsorption process is subject to the pseudo-first-order equation according to the correlation coefficient R2, which gave an excellent value. The thermodynamic functions of the adsorption process were calculated at different temperatures. It was found that the adsorption process is heat-emitting (- =H∆) and that the adsorption is physical because it is less than 40 kilojoules/mol, and that the free energy is negative (- =G∆), that is, the adsorption process occurs spontaneously and is entropic. Adsorption is negative (- =S∆), meaning less randomness.Downloads
