Abstract

Esophageal atresia is a congenital anomaly presenting unique challenges in pediatric anesthesia. This review examines current practices and considerations in anesthesia management for children undergoing surgical correction of esophageal atresia. Key areas discussed include pre-operative assessment, airway management strategies to mitigate the risks of aspiration and difficult intubation, optimal fluid and temperature management during surgery, and post-operative care focusing on pain management and monitoring for respiratory complications. The review emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach involving anesthesiologists, surgeons, and pediatric specialists to achieve optimal outcomes in this complex patient population.
