Abstract

RA is the most common and leading autoimmune disease among connective tissue and musculoskeletal diseases. Epidemiological studies have shown that 20 million people in 195 countries suffer from RA. It should be said that in women this pathology occurs 2-4 times more often than in men. RA is a disease that has both medical and social significance. Thus, the mortality rate in RA exceeds 54% compared to the general population and is considered a specific problem of modern medical science. Anemia of chronic disease (ACD) is a leading cause of anemic syndrome in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Enhanced hepcidin production mainly stimulated by excess interleukin-6 levels is a key pathogenetic component of ACD (frequently known as anemia of inflammation).
