Good Practices for Students in Improving Children’s Literacy and Numeracy in Barus Julu Basam Village, Barus Jahe District, Karo Regency

The aim of implementing this PkM activity is to increase literacy and numeracy in Barus Jahe sub-district, Karo Regency. Mechanism for implementing PkM activities at Universitas HKBP Nommensen, Medan. This activity will be carried out from February 5 to early March 2024 in Barus Jahe District, Karo Regency. The student PkM team consists of 4 people and is guided by one field supervisor. Students group students into 4 groups, where each group is taught by 1 student, 4-5 people. The media used by students are reading books, pens, printed books, and letter drawing media provided by students. There were 20 students, which increased literacy by 14 people. Students succeeded in increasing literacy among 4 students, while for numeracy 10 students. The results obtained from this PkM activity were the ability to adapt well so that cooperative relationships were established between the community, students and students in Barusjulu village, Basam Hamlet. Students held an assistance program in the form of literacy and numeracy tutoring for students at SD 101905 Pasar Melintang at 15:00 WIB - 17:00 WIB. Students provided tutoring for children around where students lived at the village office in Basam village and also helped complete school assignments they. Students helped the village in posyandu activities for children and posyandu for the elderly in Barusjulu village, Basam village. Students create pamphlets to increase public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness in designated locations.Downloads
