Abstract

This research was motivated by the lack of teachers teaching paper folding lessons using methods that were considered inappropriate, so that children experienced difficulty in completing tasks related to mastering eye and hand coordination to produce a folded form. The demonstration method is an effective method, because the teacher invites children to participate in doing what is being taught, so that by implementing the demonstration method it is hoped that it can improve mastery of folding skills. This research was conducted to answer the problem formulation of how to use the demonstration method in paper folding activities to improve fine motor skills in Group B children at Pembina Tomohon Kindergarten. The research was developed using a classroom action research (PTK) design in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research uses a demonstration method, where the learning process is carried out by teaching steps to fold paper in stages, so that it is easier for children to understand and learn, because children participate in imitating and doing what has been taught. The results of this research show that folding skills before and after the action have significantly increased. In pre-action the percentage was 26.6%, cycle I obtained a percentage of 60%, and cycle II obtained a percentage of 93.34%. The results from cycle II prove that the achievement of success indicators has increased. Thus, it can be concluded that paper folding activities using the demonstration method can improve fine motor development in paper folding activities in Group B children at Pembina Tomohon Kindergarten.
