CAUSES OF PARAPROSTHETIC RECURRENT VENTRAL HERNIAS AND THE CHOICE OF SURGICAL TREATMENT

Recurrent ventral hernias after paraprosthetic operations are common in surgical practice. Many things influence their occurrence, such as the anatomical features of the patient, the quality of the material used, and the method of surgery. This article reviews the main causes of paraprosthetic recurrent ventral hernias and suggests surgical solutions to reduce their incidence. Information on patients who underwent surgery to repair recurrent hernias served as the basis for this study. Results concerning the efficacy of different surgical techniques depending on the clinical situations are presented.
