NutraceuticalsAbstract
Nutraceuticals, a portmanteau of "nutrition" and "pharmaceuticals," encompass a broad range of products derived from food sources that purportedly provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition. This paper delves into the multifaceted realm of nutraceuticals, examining their potential roles in health promotion and disease prevention. Drawing upon a comprehensive review of literature, this study explores the bioactive compounds found in various nutraceuticals, such as polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and botanical extracts, elucidating their mechanisms of action and physiological effects within the human body. Additionally, the paper investigates the evidence supporting the efficacy of nutraceuticals in mitigating chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disorders, metabolic syndrome, cognitive decline, and inflammatory conditions. Furthermore, this research evaluates the regulatory landscape surrounding nutraceuticals, considering issues of safety, quality control, and labeling accuracy. Through a synthesis of scientific findings and regulatory frameworks, this study aims to provide insights into the potential benefits and limitations of nutraceutical use as adjunctive therapy in health promotion strategies. Ultimately, a nuanced understanding of nutraceuticals can empower healthcare practitioners and consumers alike to make informed decisions regarding their dietary choices and supplementation practices, thereby enhancing overall health and well-being.Downloads
