Abstract

The influence of pressure and thermal expansion on the optical absorption edge and the model of the deformation potential in a layered TlGaS2 crystal are investigated. It was found that compression along the C axis leads to an increase in Eg (as in АIIIBVI crystals) by ~10 meV at P = 1kbar. At the same time, the layer stretching leads to a decrease in Eg by ~13 meV – as a result, Eg decreases by ~3 meV.
