Abstract

The population of Uzbekistan has long been connected by roads. Settlements are formed in areas where different roads pass through different settlements and, conversely, different roads pass through different settlements. Such geographical features are especially evident in the Fergana Valley, where population and transport networks are dense and land resources are limited. With the development of modern urban planning, the emergence of new settlements, new cities and towns, the "appearance" of the regions is changing and agglomerations are developing. The Fergana-Margulan, Namangan, Andijan, and Kokand agglomerations, which are formed in the densely populated Fergana Valley of Uzbekistan, are very different from each other, despite the fact that they are located in the same region. These differences are primarily due to the transport network and configuration of the region. The article mainly assesses the impact of the transport factor on the development of the Andijan agglomeration, and comments on the formation of the Andijan-Asaka-Shahrikhan-Poytug rectangle of Andijan and its adjacent cities.
