The Role and Development of the Rubab in the Musical Culture of the East

This article analyzes the place of the rubab instrument in Eastern musical culture, its origin, stages of development, regional types and performance techniques. The article covers such types of rubab as Afghan, Tajik, Uzbek and prima rubab, as well as their differences in timbre, number of strings and tuning. The art of rubab as a means of musical expression is revealed through the artistic strokes used in performance - trill, legato, staccato, glissando, pizzicato. The role of rubab in modern musical genres, its place in the education system and teaching experiences in instrumental performance schools are also widely covered. The article approaches the issues of studying, preserving and developing the national musical heritage based on a scientific approach.
