This article delves into the tension between the majority's trust in Telegram's security and the skepticism raised by cybersecurity experts. The encryption mechanism serves as the cornerstone of data security in messaging apps, and Telegram employs its proprietary cryptographic protocol, MTProto. Despite Telegram's assertion of MTProto's trustworthiness, its limited scrutiny and untested nature have spurred critiques. Security vulnerabilities have been identified, though largely theoretical.
